If You Were Me And Lived in Italy

Book Review of If You Were Me And Lived in Italy

Written by: Carole P. Roman

I received this book in the mail a few days ago, and was a little surprised (good surprise). I normally do not read books that are geared towards this age group (Amazon has it listed as grades P-4) since my own child is 14. I was pleasantly surprised at it however.

This book is a mere 18 pages but is jam packed with information about Italy. The pictures are very interesting which when remembering my own child’s younger years, this is a major plus. Knowing now that it is supposed to be for preschool to 4th grade I would highly recommend it for the older grades. There is a lot of information on each page, which can be a little over whelming for the younger set. It would be easy to break it up over several days if your child is interested but has a short attention span.

Overall I would rate this book at 4/5 stars, but only because it felt like an info drop and the layout was a little bit much for the age group. I do think this would be a great use in a home school setting for an introduction to world history (at least of Italy) and can lead to some interesting projects.
